England, one of the biggest favorites to win it all, are undoubtedly one of the tournament's biggest disappointments. Their squad is full of stars, but many football pundits agree that the main problem with this team is coach Gareth Southgate. Yes, they are at the top of Group C with four points and will almost certainly secure the knockout phase, even with a potential loss. However, a point or a win in the last game will be enough to finish at the top of the group. In that case, they will face off against some of the 3rd-placed teams from Groups D, E, or F.

Slovenia came to this EURO after a really good Qualifiers where they finished 2nd in a group with Denmark, Finland, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland, and San Marino. In fact, they were on a level with points Denmark for the 1st place. In this EURO, even though they came as one of the weakest teams in the tournament, they did not disappoint. After securing a draw against Denmark in the first game, they were seconds away from winning the match against Serbia and probably securing the next stage. Unfortunately for them, Luka Jovic scored a late equalizer and ruined their chances. Now, they need all three points against England, but they can come out of the group even with a draw.

England vs Slovenia pick: Under 2.5 goals

In our opinion, England are playing a really strange style of football, especially considering their offensive talent. When they score, they almost park the bus and stop attacking. They scored only two goals in the first two games while struggling to create chances. In those two matches, they only had 0.54 and 0.82 xG. Many football experts are advocating for changes in the middle, which would give them more offense, but we doubt the coach will make drastic changes.

Slovenia, like England, has played only low-scoring games thus far in EURO. Both of their matches finished as 1:1 draws, and it is clear they will have big problems to score against England, especially if England continues to play defensively.

In the previous two h2h games, we only saw one goal in total. Considering all the above, we expect a game with fewer than three goals.

England team news

After a 1:1 draw with Denmark, coach Gareth Southgate spoke to the media. He said they are not pressing well enough, mostly because they are not fit enough. The coach noted they did a much better job at pressing high up the pitch in the Qualifiers. "We are not keeping the ball well enough. We have to keep the ball better and build with more control," the coach added.

Many football experts suggest that Cole Palmer and Kobbie Mainoo could solve England's offensive struggles, but we highly doubt we would see them in the starting eleven.
