England will continue their preparation for the upcoming Euros when they play host to Iceland on Friday in what will be the last of their two friendlies for June.
The Three Lions once again failed to be successful in a major competition when they travelled to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, but it’s fair to say Gareth Southgate has got the best out of his squad since then. England secured qualification for the Euros by topping Group C after picking up 20 points from eight games.
Meanwhile, Iceland are set to miss the Euros for the second time in a row. The visitors finished third in their group after managing only ten points from ten encounters, but still had the chance to secure a European Championship place through the Playoffs. Åge Hareide's team went into the half-time break against Ukraine with a one-goal lead, only to concede two goals in the second half and crash out.
England vs Iceland Betting Tips: England to win and over 2.5 goals
Even without some of their big names like Foden, Bellingham, Declan Rice and Harry Kane in the starting eleven, the Tree Lions were dominant against Bosnia and Herzegovina last time out, scoring three goals without conceding a single shot.
England's record against Iceland is also very solid, with the Tree Lions recording wins in each of the last four meetings between the two nations. Just one of those encounters ended with less than two goals.
While Iceland have no chance of winning, I expect them to score at least once, as ‘Our Boys’ found the back of the net at least once in nine of their last ten games.
- Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
- England vs Iceland prediction: 3-1

England team news
The win over Bosnia and Herzegovina was the first time since 1994 that England’s starting eleven didn’t have any players from Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester United.
Cole Palmer marked his debut for the Three Lions with a goal and the Chelsea forward will be hoping to keep his place in the starting eleven, although Gareth Southgate is expected to make wholesale changes to his XI.

Three reasons we expect at least three goals in this game
- England finished just two of their last six games without conceding.
- Averagely three goals a game were seen in the last four meetings between Iceland and England.
- Iceland have scored at least once in each of their last four encounters.
