Australia will travel this week to England to face the Three Lions as part of their preparation for the upcoming 2024 World Cup qualifiers in November.
With their elimination against France in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, England once again failed to impress at a major tournament. The Three Lions have moved on since then, however, winning five of their last six games across all competitions. Gareth Southgate's side currently sit top of Group C of the 2024 European Championship qualifiers and defeated Scotland 3:1 - in Glasgow, Scotland - in their last friendly encounter.
This time they host an Australian team that also played in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Socceroos finished second in a group with France, Denmark and Tunisia, meaning they should not be taken lightly. The Australians have however won just one of the four friendly matches they have played since their elimination in the last 16 of the World Cup.
England vs Australia Betting Tips: England & over 2.5 goals
Although Southgate is expected to field a weakened side, England will enter this match as favourites. The Three Lions boast six wins from their last nine matches across all competitions and should therefore have enough in their tank to record a win here.
We don't expect a narrow win because entertainment has been the order of the day in the recent games of Southgate's men. In the last twelve matches, bets on over 2.5 goals lost only three times. Australia has also been entertaining to watch of late, with four of their last five matches ending in at least three goals.
- Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
- England vs Australia prediction: 3-1

England team news
Aaron Ramsdale has not featured in Arsenal's last four Premier League games but could feature for England this week.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper made his fifth appearance for the Three Lions in last month's friendly against Scotland.
Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka came on as substitutes in that match but are unavailable for this week's game due to thigh and hamstring injuries respectively.
