Egypt, a seven-time AFCON champions, are one of Africa's best teams. However, they haven't had much success in recent years. They missed the previous WC in Qatar, and in the last AFCON, they finished the competition in the 1/8 Finals after DR Congo knocked them after a penalty shootout. But after that failure, they have been pretty good in the World Cup and AFCON Qualifiers, winning three of four matches. In the AFCON Group C, Egypt won all six points and currently sits in the top spot. They are not only the favorites to come out of the group but also to win the competition itself.

Mauritania are #112 in the FIFA World Cup Ranking List. They were one of the weakest teams in the continent, but there has been some progress in recent years. After many years of failing to reach AFCON, they managed to appear in the last three tournaments. To be fair, they haven't had much success in those tournaments, but only reaching it is probably a good result for them. After the first two rounds, they won three points and are currently tied with Cape Verde for second place. However, now they will face Egypt two games in a row, and securing just a point in those two matches will probably be a massive challenge.

Egypt vs Mauritania pick: Egypt to win and cover the -2 AH spread

Egypt are in excellent form, having won three out of the last four matches. In the AFCON Qualifiers, they won both games while covering the -2.5 AH spread both times. At home, Egypt have been excellent, and their only loss was against Croatia in the last eight matches. So, beating teams like Mauritania shouldn't be a problem.

Mauritania, on the other hand, lost three out of the last four games while scoring just one goal - 0.25 per game. If we look further back, Mauritania have scored just once in the last seven games, so scoring against Egypt doesn't look like a real scenario.

Considering the difference in quality and form, along with a home pitch advantage, we believe that Egypt should secure a comfortable win over Mauritania.
