Ecuador enters their Copa America opener against Venezuela with momentum, having won their last two matches against Bolivia (3:1) and Honduras (2:1). However, La Tri´s recent defensive struggles, failing to keep a clean sheet in four games is a cause for concern. 

Despite never winning the Copa America, Ecuador are one of the tournament dark horses, currently rated seventh favourites to go all the way.  Since last September, Felix Sanchez´s side have lost just two of ten games played, with six victories recorded during that run. 

At this competition, Ecuador have struggled in recent years. La Tri failed to win any of their last nine matches at this competitions since 2016. Five of their seven most recent Copa America matches saw BTTS.

Venezuela have historically struggled in the Copa America, with a quarter-final appearance their best result. Recent performances also suggest this could be a tough tournament for the Venezuelans. Fernando Batista´s side have failed to win any of their last five matches, while they have won just one of their last ten Copa America matches since 2016.

With neither nation in particularly strong form, it's tough to pick a winner. Recent meetings between these nations have also proved competitive. Four of their last six encounters finished deadlocked with both teams recording one win since 2017. Four of those matches also saw BTTS.

Given the poor pre-tournament form of both teams, I expect a tight contest that could well finish as a low-scoring draw. 

With that in mind, BTTS offers the value, while I wouldn't be surprised to see the spoils shared at Levi's Stadium.
