Many teams have already started the 2024/25 season as they compete for a place in the various European competitions. Two of them are Northern Irish Crusaders and Welsh Caernarfon, who last Thursday had the first leg of their Conference League first-round phase. In that game, Caernarfon unexpectedly won 2-0 at the home stadium. Now, the teams will head to Northern Ireland, where the Crusaders will try to overcome a big deficit.
Crusaders disappointed their fans last season when they finished fourth in the NIFL Premiership. In the previous weeks, Crusaders didn't impress as they had a 2-1-3 record, including friendlies. Fans surely expect their team to return to the top of the football in the country, but they seem far from that.
Caernarfon didn't have too much success in their domestic competition either. They finished 5th, with more than fifty points fewer than Cymru Premier champions, TNS, but Caernarfon still secured the Conference League qualifications via the playoff. Caernarfon started preseason with a 7-0 defeat against TNS. After that, they won the next four games, including that 2-0 win against Crusaders.
Crusaders vs Caernarfon pick: Caernarfon to cover AH +1.5 spread
Bookies see Crusaders as a big favorite in the second leg. However, Caernaforn showed in the first game that the difference between the two teams is not that big, so we should expect the Welsh side to cover AH +1.5 spread.

Crusaders team news
After last season, left winger Paul Heatley, one of Crusaders' football icons, finished his career. He spent almost his whole career with the Crusaders and played a big role every season. Crusaders signed a lot of players this summer but still haven't found a player who has adequately replaced Paul Heatley. Crusader's probably biggest signing this summer is 20-year-old forward Kieran Offord, who came from St. Mirren.

Caernarfon team news
Caernarfon are probably better than the last season. Some players left the squad, but a better player is signed as a replacement in most positions. The best deal for Caernarfon this summer is probably the signing of reliable center-back Ryan Sears from Newtown. Also, bringing Stephen McMullan on loan from Fleetwood could be a fantastic job.
