Coventry City will be looking for a win that could see them move into the top six when they host Portsmouth on Wednesday night.
The hosts enjoyed a great run of form in the second week of February when they won five league games in a row but that form has faded. Frank Lampard's side boast just one win from their last four games, suffering three defeats and conceded a total of seven goals in that spell. But with just one point separating them from the top 5, a win against Portsmouth this week will very much put their promotion hopes alive.
Portsmouth, meanwhile, have won just one of their last four Championship games. The visitors were last in action on Saturday afternoon when they visited Millwall in search of successive league wins for the third time in 2025. Their defensive problems this season were once again on display as they conceded two goals for the third time in four games and suffered a fourth defeat in six fixtures.
Coventry City vs Portsmouth Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals
Even when Frank Lampard and Co were in the form of their lives, they struggled defensively and their poor run at the back has continued, with the Sky Blues keeping just one clean sheet in their last eight games. All but one of those games saw three or more goals scored.
Portsmouth have failed to keep a clean sheet in three of their last four games and shipped exactly two goals in as many matches. Three of those games ended with more than two goals and I expect a similar result on Wednesday.
- Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
- Coventry City vs Portsmouth prediction: 2-1
