Costa Rica come into their final group phase fixture with qualification hopes all but over following a 3:0 defeat against Colombia on matchday two. Having begun their campaign with a hard-fought draw against Brazil, Gustavo Alfaro´s side were well beaten by the Colombians, and now face elimination barring a minor miracle on Wednesday.

Trailing Brazil by three points following the Brazilians 4:1 win against Paraguay, Costa Rica must win and hope for a six goal swing. Brazil will qualify should they pick up a point or more against Colombia.

For Paraguay, elimination has already been confirmed after back-to-back defeats against Colombia (2-1) and Brazil (4-1). After a spirited performance on matchday one, the Paraguayans were decisively dismissed by a much-improved Brazilian side earlier this week.

Ranked 52nd and 58th respectively in the FIFA rankings, there is little to choose between these sides, and a competitive affair is anticipated at Q2 Stadium.

Under this context, I expect both nations to come into this fixture with a more attack-minded approach. With little to lose, both teams will be determined to finish their campaign on a high, and I expect plenty of goalscoring chances created between two evenly matched nations. 

Paraguay have seen BTTS in each of their last three Copa America fixtures, while they have conceded at least one goal in 11 of their last 13 matches at this competition. Costa Rica, while yet to score at this tournament,  should have their eye on a famous victory, and can finally net against a ropey Paraguayan defence.
