Congo are trying to secure its first World Cup appearance, but to be fair, the odds of that happening are really low. Besides not appearing in the WC, Congo rarely appeared in the AFCON, doing so just once in the last 12 tournaments. According to African Media, Congo will not play this home game at Olimpic Stadium in Brazzaville, where they usually play, since the stadium doesn't meet CAF standards. Instead, they will play the game at Stade des Martyrs, just across the Congo River in Kinshasa, in DR Congo. Still, there are some speculations that Congo might decide not to show up for the upcoming game as a sign of a protest against FIFA for not allowing them to play in Brazzaville.
