- Competition: COSAFA Cup, Semi-Finals
- Date: Friday, 5th July, 2024
- Kickoff: 14:00 UTC +1 / 15:00 CEST
- Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (Gqeberha)
On Saturday afternoon, Comoros and Angola will face off in the COSAFA Cup Semi-Finals at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.
Comoros are #119 on the FIFA World Ranking List and #31 in the CAF Region (out of 53 national teams). Expectedly, they are a team that almost never appears in the major tournament as they have never been in the World Cup and secured only one appearance in the AFCON. In the COSAFA, they haven't had too much success, with reaching the Quarter Finals in 2019 being their best result ever. This year, they have been really impressive, reaching the semi-finals at COSAFA after finishing first in the group with Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. Additionally, they are at the top of their Group I in the World Cup Qualifiers after four rounds, and it is evident they are on the rise.
Angola are currently #19 in the CAF Region and #91 in the FIFA World Ranking List. In the previous AFCON, they were pretty good, reaching the Quarter-Finals, where Nigeria eventually stopped them. After the AFCON, they continued with good results both in the World Cup Qualifiers and the COSAFA Cup. They won their group in the COSAFA tournament, but that was expected since they had a pretty easy one with Lesotho, Seychelles, and Namibia.
Comores vs Angola pick: Under 2.5 goals
Comores were really impressive defensively in the COSAFA Cup, allowing only one goal in the first three matches. So, we expect them to give another good defensive performance in a super-important game against Angola match. Mostly due to good defense, Comoros were under 2.5 goals in all three games.
Angola, on the other hand, were much better offensively, scoring six goals in the first three games. Still, all six of those were against pretty poor teams - Seychelles and Lesotho. Additionally, they are a team that mostly play low-scoring games and were under 2.5 goals in 12 of the last 17 games in all competitions.
These teams have already met this year in a friendly match, which ended as a goalless draw. Now, considering the importance of the game and all the above, we believe that an under 2.5 goal is the safest option for this match.

Comoros team news
Midfielder Ahmed Haslane received his second yellow card in the previous game against Zambia and will serve his one-game suspension. The 22-year-old midfielder has started in all three games in the tournament, and his absence will surely be a significant factor in this match.
