Just three days after Burkina Faso dominated Burundi 4:1 at home, these two teams will face off against each other again, but this time at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan (Ivory Coast).

Burundi have one of the weakest national teams in the African continent and are currently #140 on the FIFA World Ranking List and #41 in the African region (out of 53 teams). In their history, they have only one AFCON appearance in 2019 and one in the Africa Nations Championship appearance in 2014. However, they had a nice start in the World Cup Qualifiers, as they are 3rd after four rounds and are just three points away from first place. In the AFCON Qualifiers, Burundi didn't have the best start, as they won just three points in three rounds. Yes, they are just one point away from 2nd place, but second-placed Senegal played one game less. So, Burundi are under pressure to win this game in order to have some chance of reaching the tournament.

On the other hand, Burkina Faso have regularly appeared in the AFCON in recent years. They appeared in seven out of the last eight tournaments and have had some success as they came out of the group phase in the last three appearances. For now, their AFCON Qualifiers are doing fine, considering they hold the top spot with seven points in three rounds. With a potentially positive result here, "The Stallions" would make a massive step forward in reaching the tournament.

Burundi vs Burkina Faso pick: Burkina Faso to win

These teams just met three days ago, with Burkina Faso absolutely dominating the game and winning 4:1. Now, the rematch will be played on a neutral pitch in Ivory Coast, so we can exclude the home-pitch advantage for Burundi.

Even though, on paper, Burundi's form is looking good as they only lost twice in the last six games - those positive results were mostly against weak teams. They did secure a draw against Kenya, but Kenya outplayed them and deserved all three points. So, that solid form is pretty deceiving.

Burkina Faso are undefeated in the last four games and have lost just once in the last six matches. That loss wasn't bad, considering they lost 2:1 away from home against Egypt, and we can give them a pass on that one. Additionally, against two weak teams in the group (Malawi and Burundi), Burkina Faso easily won 3:1 and 4:1 and shouldn't have problems of beating Burundi again on a neutral pitch.

Considering all the above, we believe that Burkina Faso are much closer to winning the upcoming AFCON Qualifier game.
