Manchester City will be looking to put an end to their three games losing streak across all competitions when they face Brighton at the Amex on Saturday evening.
Brighton have not played differently from the way they did last season when they secured their first ever European qualification. The Seagulls went unbeaten in their first seven encounters in the 2024-25 season, picking up four wins and three draws. They even beat Manchester United and drew with Arsenal in that spell, but results went against them in the last two encounters. Fabian Hürzeler will be expecting a reaction after his side suffered back to back defeats to Liverpool in the League Cup and the Premier League.
Manchester City also got off to a fine start to the 2024-25 campaign. The Citizens won their first four Premier League encounters and were unbeaten in the first nine. Things began to go backwards for Pep’s side at the end of last month when they got knocked out of the League Cup by Tottenham Hotspur. City went on to suffer their first league defeat last weekend against Bournemouth and were equally on the losing side in Europe against Sporting in midweek.
Brighton vs Manchester City Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals
With both sides eager to react after a series of negative results, we could be in for an exciting game and I don’t see less than three goals as both sides don’t have a good defence.
Brighton failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last eight games across all competitions and shipped at least two goals in as many games. All but two of those encounters produced four or more goals.
Manchester City kept just two clean sheets from their last seven matches. Six of those games ended with over 2.5 goals and I think Saturday’s game will end similarly.
- Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
- Brighton vs Manchester City prediction: 1-2

Jérémy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne featured for Manchester City as substitutes in the defeat to Sporting CP last time out after spells on the sidelines, but Jack Grealish wasn’t in the squad.
Ballon D'or winner Rodri is ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury.
Pep will also not be able to use the services of Oscar Bobb and Ruben Dias this weekend due to a leg and muscle injuries.
