  • Competition: Champions League, Quarter-Finals, 2nd Leg
  • Date: Tuesday, 15th April, 2025
  • Kickoff: 20:00 UK / 21:00 CEST
  • Venue: Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund)

After a massive 4:0 win for the Catalonian team in the first leg, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona will face off in the second leg of the Champions League Quarter-Finals at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund.

For the second season in a row, Borussia Dortmund are not fulfilling expectations in the domestic league. Last year, The Prussians finished fifth, and this year, they are even worse, considering they sit in 8th place with 42 points in 29 matches. Right now, they are three points away from European spots and six away from the CL spots. However, last year, they at least reached the CL Finals and saved the season to some degree. And this time, it will take a miracle to happen in order to overcome the four-game deficit.

Barcelona had a poor last season, failing to win any titles. This time, the Catalonian team is looking much better, and we wouldn't be surprised if they win the triple title. They reached the Copa del Rey Finals and are at the top of La Liga, with a six-point advantage with a game played more than Real Madrid. Meanwhile, the bookies see them as the primary favorite for the CL title, offering odds around 3.1 on that bet.

Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona pick: Over 3.5 goals

In the first leg, Barcelona won 4:0. However, after watching the game, we believe that we could easily see at least one more goal. They were combined for exactly 5.0 xG (Barcelona 3.71 & Borussia Dortmund 1.29).

In recent games, Borussia Dortmund played only high-scoring games and were over 3.5 goals in the last four games in all competitions. It is evident their defense is not good enough, as they failed to keep a clean sheet in the last eight games. Since they will have to open from the first minute, that could easily backfire on them, and we could see a high-scoring game again.

Barcelona are in excellent form, having won 14 out of the last 16 matches and scoring three or more goals in nine of those 16 matches - 56%. So, we wouldn't be too surprised if they would offer another good offensive display, especially if Borussia Dortmund opens too much.

Considering all the above, we expect another high-scoring game in this Champions League quarter-final tie.
