- Venue: Renato Dall'Ara
Bologna will have the chance to record consecutive wins for the first second time this season on Tuesday night when they play host to Monza.
The hosts qualified automatically for this round after a 5th place in the league standings last season, while Monza got a comfortable 3-0 win over Brescia in the second round to get this far.
Bologna are one of those Serie A sides you don’t know what to expect from them. Vincenzo Italiano’s men put in a 5-star display against Venezia in the league last weekend, finding the back of the net three times without conceding but before then they had suffered consecutive defeats against Lazio and Lille in the league and Champions League respectively.
Monza meanwhile have been very consistent withdraws this season. The visitors have picked up seven draws in the Italian top flight, no side has registered more and they bring a run of two consecutive draws into Tuesday’s game.
Bologna vs Monza Betting Tips: Under 2.5 goals
All the last four games of FC Bologna produced at least three goals, but things often turn out differently when i Rossoblu compete at Renato Dall'Ara. Seven of Bologna’s nine league home games across all competitions this season ended with under 2.5 goals and I expect a similar outcome on Tuesday.
Another reason to expect a close game on Tuesday is the fact that recent games of Monza were have been very close. The white and reds conceded under one goal in all but two of their last eight fixtures and just as many games produced more than two goals.
- Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- Bologna vs Monza prediction: 1-0

Mota had to be withdrawn at the start of the second half in the draw with Como on Saturday afternoon and should the midfielder regain his fitness, he is unlikely to start Tuesday’s game.
Alessio Cragno (shoulder), Matteo Pessina (tendon tear), Roberto Gagliardini (surgery) and Stefano Sensi (muscle fatigue) are all unavailable due to injuries.
