A competitive contest can be expected on Sunday with both teams entering this fixture with plenty of reasons to be confident. 

Fiorentina have enjoyed a sensational run over the past couple of months with a remarkable eight successive Serie A wins achieved since a goalless draw at Empoli in September. 

Led by former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino, the Viola picked up impressive wins against Milan (2:1) and Roma (5:1) during that run, while they have claimed victory in each of their last four road games. Fiorentina bagged ten goals, including a 6:0 win at Lecce, while keeping clean sheets in all four matches.

However, they can expect a stiff test on Sunday with Bologna beginning to find some of the form that saw them finish last season in fifth spot. Vincenzo Italiano´s men are unbeaten in their last four matches, while they have lost just one of their last 12 Serie A encounters since September. 

While an inability to turn draws into wins has proven a frustration - Bologna were held to stalemates in six of their last 12 league matches - the hosts remain a tough side to beat, especially at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, Italiano´s men are unbeaten in 23 of their last 24 home Serie A game over the past 15 months.

Recent encounters between these closely contested rivals have delivered in the goal markets. Five of their seven previous meetings saw both teams get on the scoresheet and with both teams in fine fettle, a similar outcome seems likely on Sunday.
