Belgium came to the UEFA Nations League after a pretty bad EURO performance. They did come out of the group, but France eventually eliminated them in the 1/8 FInals. Generally, their performance in the group phase was far from impressive. Even though they have quality players, the impression is that they are constantly underperforming and that they are not on the level of the best European teams. In the UEFA Nations League, they are 3rd in the group with four points in three rounds. For these two games against Italy and France, Belgium are without their key players, and it seems they are not too interested in this competition.

France have undoubtedly been one of the best teams in the world in recent years. In the previous EURO, they were eliminated by Spain in the Semifinals in a super-close match. And in the World Cup, they were the runner-ups after another super close duel, but that time against Argentina. In the UEFA Nations League, France opened the competition with a loss against Italy but then bounced back with two big wins against Belgium and Israel. Now, they are in 2nd place, just one point away from Italy.

Belgium vs France pick: France to (AH 0) win

Belgium haven't been good for a while now. Their only two wins in the last seven games in all competitions were against mediocre teams at best - Romania and Israel. In the last game, against Italy, Belgium secured a 2:2 draw. However, that was only because Pellegrini received a red card in the 38th minute. Before the red card, Italy had a 2:0 advantage and controlled the game completely.

Meanwhile, France won four (one after penalties) out of the last six games, with two of those wins coming against Belgium.

Both teams will miss key players, but we believe that Belgium are much more reliant on their stars, especially Kevin De Bryune, who is the heart and soul of this team. Without him, they are not even remotely as good.

Additionally, in the last eight h2h games, Belgium secured just one win, while France won on five occasions. Considering the h2h trend, the difference in form, and overall quality, we believe that France is closer to winning the upcoming game.

Belgium team news

As we mentioned, Belgium will miss key players for this match. Kevin De Bruyne and Lukaku asked the coach for rest, while Amadou Onana is injured. All three of those players are key members of the first eleven, and their absence is a massive problem for the coach.

After a 2:2 draw against Italy, coach Domenico Tedesco spoke to the media. He said they really struggled and that the red card helped them enormously. "We know we can do better, but that quick goal against threw all our plans into disarray," the coach added. He also said that they will try to improve and bring something new against France despite having just one training session.

France team news

Kylian Mbappe has not been called for the NT due to a minor muscle injury. Other notable names that are not called for different reasons are N'Golo Kanté, Adrien Rabiot, Lucas Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano, Moussa Diaby, Ferland Mendy, etc.

Also, after the Belgium game in September, Antoine Griezmann surprisingly announced his retirement from the national team. With him retiring and Mbappe out with an injury, Aurélien Tchouaméni is now the team's captain.
