On Wednesday afternoon, two in-form teams, Barnsley and Wrexham, will face off in the 24th round of League One at Oakwell in Barnsley.

Barnsley managed to secure the Playoffs in the previous two seasons but failed to achieve promotion. This season, the Reds had problems at home, and that is the only reason why they aren't higher on the league's table. Right now, they are only one point away from the playoffs, and in order to move further up, they have to start winning at home.

Wrexham blossomed under co-owners Ryan and Rob McElhenney, securing back-to-back promotions in the previous seasons. Now, they are aiming for another one as they are sitting in second place with 48 points from 23 matches - one point above dropping to third place but with one played game more. Yet, they are in great form and have every reason to be optimistic about.

Barnsley vs Wrexham pick: Over 2.5 goals

Barnsley have constantly played high-scoring games lately, regardless of the result. They were over 2.5 goals in five consecutive games and have been very efficient in the last two, scoring five goals against good teams - Bolton and Peterborough.

Wrexham are in excellent form, keeping a nine-game unbeaten run alive. Lately, they have been pretty impressive offensively, scoring two goals per game in three out of the last four matches. So, we believe they will do well against Barnsley, which had two clean sheets in 15 home games in all competitions. But we cannot really say we have been impressive with Wrexham's defense away from home, as they kept their net intact once in the last six matches.

Considering all the above, we expect a high-scoring game, most likely with both teams scoring.
