With half of the Champions League regular season passed, Barcelona are where they wanted to be, in the top eight teams with nine points from four matches. While we expected that from Barca, Brest's ten points and fourth position are certainly unexpected. However, any loss on Tuesday could mean a drop from the top eight teams for either side.
Barcelona is doing great in the Spanish La Liga this year, too. They are the first on the table with five points more than the next team on the table, Atletico Madrid. Playing on two fronts proved to be too hard for Brest. While things are going well in the Champions League, they are struggling in the national league, where they are only three points above the relegation playoff zone. Brest lost three of the last four matches in all competitions. In the previous game, they lost 3-2 on the road against Monaco. The home side was significantly better in the match of the two Champions League sides, so Brest traveled home empty-handed again.
