AZ Alkmaar will look to move one step closer to silverware when they take on third-tier underdogs Quick Boys at AFAS Stadium in Thursday’s TOTO KNVB Beker showdown.
While their title hopes are virtually nonexistent, AZ Alkmaar have reignited their chase for a Champions League spot next season after cruising to a comfortable 2-0 victory over a battling Willem II away from home. Encouraged by their maiden Eredivisie triumph of 2025, the Cheese Farmers will be eager to put on another commanding display in the midweek clash in an effort to claim a place among the best four teams in the Dutch Cup for the first time in the last four campaigns.
Ahead of a daunting cup battle, the Quick Boys failed to build momentum at the worst possible moment in the season, as they arrive on the back of back-to-back league meltdowns against Jong Almere City and GVV, conceding a staggering seven goals in that stretch. However, the Blue White Jesters must not let their league dip in form unsettle them ahead of a crucial KVNB Beker showdown, where they will aim to pull off another sensation after previously seen off Eredivisie oppositions Fortuna Sittard 3-1 with a turnaround and Heerenveen 3-2 through extra time.
AZ Alkmaar vs Quick Boys Betting Tips: AH1 (-1.5)
These two sides have been reunited by fate in back-to-back KNVB Beker campaigns, with last year’s clash being decided in favor of AZ Alkmaar after a tense penalty shootout, as the exhausting 120-minute contest saw an incredible six-goal spectacle ending in a dramatic 3-3 draw. After realizing last season that Quick Boys are not a team to be underestimated, AZ are expected to approach this match with much more seriousness and showcase their dominance in style. Although they were defeated 1-2 by Sparta Rotterdam in their most recent home match, the Cheese Farmers have been in strong form at home with six wins on the spin across all formats, a run highlighted by a dominant 2-0 win over Ajax that earned them a place in the KNVB Beker quarterfinals. Given the massive gap in quality, combined with the fact that the Blue White Jesters being shaken up seven times at the back, we’re confident that AZ won’t allow any surprises this time, but will handle the task with ease, as expected.

Quick Boys team news
After leading his team to knock out three top-flight sides from the KNVB Beker on their way to the quarter-finals, manager Thomas Duivenvoorden is expected to stick with his usual starting XI.
With an injury forcing him off in the 13th minute during a 0-2 defeat to GVVV in their most recent league outing, Jesse Reinders’ fitness for Thursday’s match against AZ Alkmaar remains in doubt.
