Lille will be looking to keep alive their hopes of a top three finish when they take on Auxerre away from home on Friday night.

Auxerre are one of the newcomers to the French top flight this season. The hosts were promoted straight back to Ligue 1 after winning the second tier last year, and have been in similar form this term. Christophe Pélissier's side sit six points above the relegation zone, but their start to 2025 was far from stellar. L'AJA will be eager to bounce back after losing their first game of the new year, a 3-1 defeat to Strasbourg last weekend.

Lille meanwhile have been average since winning the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21. The visitors did improve last season, finishing fourth behind the likes of PSG, Monaco and Brest. Les Dogues take a 12-match unbeaten run in Ligue 1 into Friday's clash, but the fact that more than half of those encounters ended in draws will be a major concern for their fans ahead of the trip to the Stade de l'Abbé Deschamps.

While Auxerre are winless in five matches including three defeats, they have not been short going forward and I fancy them to score this week. The hosts scored at least twice in all but two of their last five matches and as many games produced 3+goals.

Lille are also doing everything right in the final third at the moment with the visitors boasting at least one goal from each of their last 13 games across all competitions. Both teams scored in four of the five league games played in that spell.
