Austria return to Nations League action on Thursday evening when they host Kazakhstan at Raiffeisen Arena.

Winless in three matches, Austria should be expected to return to winning form in Thursday's Nations League contest in Linz. 

Ralph Rangnick´s side began their Nations League B campaign last month with just one point collected from two games played against Slovenia (1:1) and Norway (2:1). However, now facing the lowest rank opponent in the section, Austria should be confident of claiming the points on Thursday.

While Austria have failed to win any of their last seven Nations League matches, Rangnick´s side enjoyed a strong run of form in 2024, including an impressive win against Netherlands at Euro 2024. At home, Austria also scored victories in seven of their last nine fixtures.

Typically involved in high-scoring outcomes, the Burschen have seen over 2.5 goals in six of their last nine matches, including three of their last four in home fixtures.

Kazakhstan make the trip to Linz without a win in any of their last six matches after a 3:0 road loss in Slovenia in their most recent Nations League (UNL) contest. Stanislav Cherchesov´s side did claim a surprise 0:0 draw against Norway in their UNL tie last month.

On the road, the Kazakhs tend to struggle though, with defeats suffered in seven of their last eight away matches played in the past year. All eight fixtures saw at least three goals scored, with Cherchesov´s men leaking 21 goals in those matches. 

Given those numbers, and Austria´s strong home form, I expect the hosts to claim the points in a game where over 2.5 goals should be expected.
