Atletico Madrid will be looking to register a win that could take them into the top eight of the Champions League this week when they play host to Slovan Bratislava.
Pundits began to suggest Diego Simeone's reign might be coming to an end following a slow start in Europe that saw Atletico win just one of their opening three Champions League encounter, but the 54-year-old has turned things around. The hosts go into Wednesday's game on a run of eleven straight wins in all competitions and that run includes a Champions League away win over PSG. In their most recent meeting, Los Colchoneros came from two goals down to beat Sevilla last weekend and Simeone will be hoping for more of the same on Wednesday.
Slovan Bratislava meanwhile travelled to MSK Zilina in the Slovakian top flight last weekend hoping to make it three wins on the bounce for the first time since November 2. Vladimír Weiss's side had a poor day at the office, managing just two shots on target and going home empty-handed. The Sky blues will be looking to bounce back against Atletico this week, but their record in Europe this season is very poor, having lost all five of their matches so far.
