Both teams come into Tuesday's La Liga contest in search of their first victory of the campaign after suffering defeats over the weekend. 

Bilbao followed a disappointing 1:1 draw against Getafe with a narrow 2:1 defeat against Barcelona on Saturday, while Valencia remain pointless after a 2:1 defeat at home to Celta last Friday. Los Che also lost their first game of the season - a 2:1 home reversal against Barclena.

Bilbao remain a force at San Mames, even if they have found wins hard to come by in 2024. The Basque club are unbeaten in Bilbao since a 2:0 defeat against Real Madrid exactly one year ago. Since that loss, Athletic won 12 and drew seven of 19 La Liga matches, although five of their seven most recent games did finish deadlocked.

Valencia, while generally poor on their travels, have a decent record at this venue, with four draws picked up in six of their last eight visits to this venue, including last season´s 2:2 draw. 

Rubén Baraja´s side will be desperate to avoid another defeat on Tuesday, and considering Bilbao´s recent home record, another draw looks a likely outcome.
