Athletic Bilbao excelled last season, finishing 5th, which was their best placement since the 2015/16 season when they finished 5th as well. The Basque team continued with excellent performances in La Liga this season and is in 5th place with 18 points from 11 rounds. Right now, they are just two points from the desired 4th place, which leads to the CL. When it comes to the Europa League, Bilbao is doing great and have won seven points in three rounds, and the bookies see them as the third favorite to win the title at this moment.
Real Betis have constantly been between fifth and seventh place in recent four seasons. Even though it is still easy to judge, the Green and Whites are looking good once again. They are in 6th place but on a level with points with their next opponent, Athletic Bilbao. With a potential win, they might even reach the Champions League spots. However, their performances in the Conference League have been far from impressive, as they only won one point in two rounds. Considering they are the third favorite for the title, it is a really disappointing start.
Athletic Bilbao vs Real Betis pick: Under 2.5 goals
In recent games, Athletic Bilbao had mixed results, and we believe that their poor offensive display is the primary reason for that. If we exclude the Espanyol game, Athletic Bilbao only managed to score two goals in three games. They have had problems with efficiency for some time, as they scored one or zero goals in five out of the last seven games. Still, on the positive side, their defense has been good, considering they had back-to-back clean sheets before this game - versus Mallorca and Slavia Prague.
Real Betis have played almost exclusively low-scoring games lately and were under 2.5 goals in six out of eight games. Additionally, one game when they were over was in the Cup against a lower-tier team, which was more than expected to go over.
Also, Real Betis were far from impressive offensively away from home. Again, if we exclude the Cup game, Real Betis scored just three goals in six games - 0.5 per game.
Considering all the above, we believe that an under 2.5 goals bet is the safest option for this La Liga tie.

Athletic Bilbao team news
After a goalless draw against Mallorca, coach Ernesto Valverde spoke to the media. He said it wasn't the best performance but that they have to keep moving forward. The coach said they couldn't get past their defensive wall and, even when they did, couldn't convert chances. "Mallorca competed well and did a great job defensively. The sending-off meant that they dropped deeper, and we lacked a little bit of finesse to finish well and score a goal," the coach added.
The team should have almost the entire squad available. Only Unai Simon is out due to a wrist injury.

Real Betis team news
Aitor Ruibal suffered an injury in the stoppage time against Atletico Madrid and had to leave the field. According to Spanish media, it is not a serious injury, but the 28-year-old should miss the Betis game after already missing the Cup game against Gevora.
Hector Bellerin, Giovani Lo Celso, Marc Roca, William Carvalho, and Isco, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined. However, on the positive side, central defender Nathan served his one-game suspension and will be available for the Athletic Bilbao game.
