Premier League side Aston Villa begin the first of their seven preseason friendlies on Wednesday evening when they take on third division side Walsal away from home.
The hosts have managed to avoid relegation from Football League Two in each of the last five campaigns. Their best finish in this spell came last year when they finished in the top eleven and head coach Mat Sadler will be looking to build on that this season. The Saddlers kicked off their preseason friendlies with a win over Alvechurch last weekend in Birmingham, where they scored three goals in a game for the first time since April.
Aston Villa meanwhile had a campaign to remember last year. The visitors were knocked out in the semis of the Europa Conference League, but a third place finish in the league booked them a place in the Champions League for the first time since 1983. The Villans' last game was over 26 days ago at Selhurst Park where they suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and boss Unai Emery will be expecting a reaction from his troops on Wednesday.
Walsal vs Aston Villa Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals
The recent games of Walsal have been packed with plenty of entertainment. Each of the last nine produced at least three goals and bets on over 4.5 goals were won in two of the last three.
Recent friendly encounters between Walsal and Aston Villa were also very entertaining. Each of the last four meetings ended with at least four goals and I fancy Wednesday’s game to end similarly.
- Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
- Walsal vs Aston Villa prediction: 1-2
