The W's Champions League returns to Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening as Arsenal W and Real Madrid W battle it out in London.

Real Madrid arrive in London as favourites to progress to the semi-finals after a superb 2:0 win in last week´s first leg in Madrid. Goals from Linda Caicedo and Athenea del Castillo secured a potentially decisive victory for Las Merengues. 

An excellent week saw Real then secure domestic bragging rights with a huge 3:1 win against Primera Division Femenina title rivals Barcelona on Sunday. That result closed the gap on the league leaders to seven points.

Turning their attention back to continental affairs, Real now find themselves in pole position to secure their place in the last four of the UCL. However, a poor road record could give Arsenal some hope on Wednesday. Alberto Toril´s side lost six of ten previous away UCL games over the past three years, including a 3:2 defeat against Chelsea in London last October.

Arsenal return to the Emirates knowing they must win by two clear goals to have any chances of maintaining their European ambitions this season. The Gunners warmed up for Wednesday´s assignment with an impressive 4:0 win against Liverpool on Saturday, a result that leaves them second in the W´s Premier League, five points behind leaders Chelsea.

In possession of a superb home record, Renée Slegers´s side won all but two of their last 13 matches at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal also claimed wins in ten of their last 13 home UCL contests.

Knowing only a convincing will do, I expect Arsenal to fight their way back into the tie, with a home win tipped on Wednesday. Goals can also be expected with Real seeing a minimum of three scored in each of their last nine away UCL matches.

A home win is my best bet, while I also expect over 2.5 goals scored at the Emirates Stadium.
