A mouth-watering Premier League encounter awaits us on Friday evening when Arsenal welcome Aston Villa to the Emirates for Match day 22 of the 2024-25 campaign.
The hosts are hoping to win the English top flight title for the first time in more than two decades, while Aston Villa want to qualify for European football in back to back campaigns.
Arsenal were the second-best team - behind Pep's Man City - in the English top flight in the past two seasons. City have not been able to step up to the plate this season and many are expecting Mikel Arteta's side to capitalise on that. Arsenal are second in the table, but four wins from their last five games means they will want to be there in case league leaders Liverpool slip up.
Aston Villa meanwhile qualified for European football for the first time in their history under Unai Emery last season. The Villans are struggling in the league this season and currently sit outside the top five. However, Emery's men take a strong run of form into Friday's game, having won each of their last three matches.
Arsenal vs Aston Villa Betting Tips: Arsenal to win
There is no Premier League side better at their home ground that Arsenal at the moment. The Gunners are yet to lose at home in the league this season and are the only team currently holding this record. They conceded under1.5 goals in each of the last five and I fancy that run to continue this week.
Villa beat Everton away from home last time out but that was a rare win. That was the Lions’ first win in six away league matches and their recent record against Arsenal isn’t also good.
- Best Tip: Home team to win
- Arsenal vs Aston Villa prediction: 2-1

Aston Villa team news
Jhon Durán returned to Aston Villa’s squad in midweek for the first time since his red against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
Ollie Watkins will be hoping to retain the responsibilities of leading the line on Friday after scoring winner against Everton and we don’t expect Unai Emery to make changes to his XI.
On the injury front, the visitors will be without Pau Torres, John McGinn, Ross Barkley and Kortney Hause at the Emirates Stadium.
