Just two steps away from defending their title, Argentina will face Canada at MetLife Stadium in the Copa America semifinals on Wednesday.

After breezing through their group, winning all three matches with zero goals allowed, Argentina seemed on track for another shutout victory in the quarterfinals, but Ecuador's stoppage-time equalizer pushed them to penalties, where they relied on the brilliance of goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to keep their quest for glory alive. On their path lies the Canadian national side, who have experienced mixed results in the group stage - securing one win along with as many draws and losses  but managed to advance to the knockout rounds as Group A runners-up. Following that feat, the Canucks broke another barrier en route to the final by proving superior in penalty shootouts against Venezuela in the quarterfinal tie, winning 4-3 after a 1-1 draw in regular time, thereby becoming only the third CONCACAF side to reach the Copa America semifinals in their debut appearance.

Two national sides will renew their rivalry just two weeks after clashing in the group stage, where Skaloni's trooped polished off a comfortable 2-0 victory, and another similar performance is expected from the Copa America title holders who are eyeing a third final on the bounce at major tournaments. However, considering the inefficiency in scoring opportunities on either end, it's unlikely that the audience at MetLife Stadium will be treated to an exciting contest this Wednesday. 

Apart from Lautaro Martinez, all other Argentine forwards faltered, including the legendary Lionel Messi who even missed a penalty kick against Ecuador in the shootout. Admittedly, the Canadians haven't shone brightly in the final third, managing to ripple the net just twice from four outings in this tournament so far. Zooming out, the broader perspective reveals that the Canucks have been struggling their attacking game recently, having gone scoreless in four of their last six internationals. With two teams struggling to find the back of the net, we expect a tough and slower match but one in which Argentina's quality and experience could make the difference, even with a lone strike.
