Argentina will be looking to continue their fine form in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup when they play host to Bolivia on Wednesday night.

The last 12 months or so have been very successful for the hosts. Messi and Co won the World Cup in Qatar and recently added another trophy to their trophy cabinet by beating Colombia in the Copa America final. However, Lionel Scaloni's side have not fared well in their last two World Cup qualifiers, losing to Colombia and drawing with Venezuela.

Bolivia meanwhile missed out on the last World Cup and didn't have much success at the Copa America. They crashed out of the Copa America in the group stage after losing all three games by an aggregate score of 10-1, but things have been looking up for Óscar Villegas's men of late. They have won all their last three World Cup qualifiers, beating the likes of Venezuela, Chile and Colombia.

Argentina vs Bolivia Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals

While Argentina have scored just one goal in each of their last two outings, they have a great goal scoring record against Bolivia, with La Albiceleste boasting at least two goals from each of the last four meetings between the two nations.

All four encounters ended with over 2.5 goals and I don’t think we will experience a different result on Wednesday night in Belgrano, Buenos Aires.

  • Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals

Argentina team news

Despite drawing with Venezuela last time out, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni is not expected to make many changes to his starting XI.

Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez are expected to start again up front, while Alexis Mac Allister is in contention for a starting berth in the middle of the park after being rested last time out due to a waterlogged pitch.

Bolivia team news

Héctor Cuellar will be unavailable to Bolivia head coach Néstor Lorenzo on Wednesday night due to a suspension.

Cuellar received a straight red card in the win over Colombia last time out, but the visitors don’t have any other suspensions or injury concerns.

Three reasons we expect at least three goals in this game

  1. Bolivia finished just two of their last nine matches without conceding.
  2. Just one of the last five meetings between Argentina and Bolivia produced under 2.5 goals.
  3. Argentina scored exactly three goals in each of their last two home games with Bolivia.
