An in-form Mallorca will be looking to maintain their excellent run of results when they take on struggling Alaves side this weekend. 

The hosts come into this fixture having endured a dismal run of results with five successive defeats suffered over the past month. Having begun the campaign in decent form with three wins from their first six games, Luis Garcia´s side have since suffered a serious dip in performance, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone.

After previously going seven unbeaten at home, Alaves have since lost back-to-back matches against Barcelona (0:3) and Valladolid (2:3) and they now face a Mallorca side that have performed well above expectation this season.

Indeed, the Islanders arrive at the Estadio de Mendizorroza having picked up victories in four of their last six league fixtures. Placed seventh in the division, Jagoba Arrasate´s men picked up a point in their most recent outing against Bilbao last weekend.

On the road, Mallorca have been excellent, scoring three victories in their last four road fixtures. They had won just one of 17 previous away La Liga contests.

Los Piratas claimed a 1:1 draw on their last visit to this venue earlier this year, and given their excellent early-season form, another positive result is expected on Wednesday.

Likely to be a tight, and potentially low-scoring contest, I´m backing Mallorca to take at least a point at the Estadio de Mendizorroza.
