On Thursday afternoon, title favorite Al Ahly will welcome relegation candidate El Daklyeh at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.

Al Ahly are the best team in Egypt and the entire of Africa. Last year, they won a quadruple (CAF Champions League, Premier League, Super Cup, and the Egypt Cup). This year, they are on a good path of repeating that as they have already won the CAF Champions League. However, they are in a pretty strange situation in the domestic league. They are 2nd with 11 points disadvantage, but with four games fewer than 1st-placed Pyramids. So, they would take over the top spot with all four wins. If anyone can pull it off, it's them after winning ten league games in a row.

El Daklyeh returned to the Egyptian top-flight division last year but barely secured survival, finishing just two points above the danger zone. This year, they are once again looking like a relegation candidate. Right now, they are 17th with 19 points, six points away from the safe zone. Unfortunately for them, they will face really good competition (Al Ahly, Pyramids, Zamalek) in the remaining six games. So, survival looks almost impossible even though there is a lot of football to be played.
