Ajax will be looking to secure a place in the Europa League round of Sixteen when they take on Belgian visitors Union SG in Amsterdam.
An impressive performance in last week´s first leg saw the Dutch side secure a vital 2:0 win in Belgium, a result that extended their winning run to five matches. Second-half goals from Christian Rasmussen and and 16-year-old Jordy Mokio secured an impressive win for Francesco Farioli´s side.
Having struggled badly last season, Ajax seem to be returning to something like their best form. Now top of the Eredivisie for the first time under their Italian boss, the Sons of God will be confident of maintaining their fine form this week.
While a one-goal home defeat would be enough to secure their spot in the next round, the Dutch will be keen to extend their winning run against an opponent that has struggled in recent weeks.
Union arrive in Amsterdam with much to do to turn this tie around, and their recent form offers little in the way of optimism. Sébastien Pocognoli´s side lost three of their last five matches, while they also slipped to defeat in three of their four previous away Europa League fixtures.
Ultimately, with Ajax finding their best form in 2025, and USG a little off colour, a comfortable home win is expected in Amsterdam.
