An entertaining Eredivisie fixture is expected on Wednesday as an in-form Ajax takes on third-placed Utrecht.

The Sons of God returns to home comforts after claiming a narrow 2:1 win at NEC on Sunday, a result that extended their unbeaten run in the Eredivisie. Currently second in the division, Francesco Farioli´s side find themselves seven points behind leaders PSV, but with the benefit of a game in hand.

Particularly strong in recent matches in Amsterdam, Ajax have won each of their last seven home Eredivisie matches at the Johan Cruijff Arena. Farioli´s men scored 18 goals across those six matches - that's an average of exactly three goals per game. 

While in great form, the Sons of Gods can expect a stiff test on Wednesday with Utrecht enjoying a fine run of results prior to  a 5:2 home defeat against PSV over the weekend. Before that setback, Ron Jans´s side had won 11 of 13 previous Eredivisie matches.

On the road, Utrecht have been particularly impressive, with victories claimed in each of their last five away fixtures. Unbeaten across their last nine away Eredivisie matches, Utrecht scored two goals or more in eight of their last 10 on their travels, while they have bagged at least one goal in 13 of their 14 previous away fixtures. 

Considering Utrecht´s strong away form, and Ajax´s impressive results in Amsterdam, this game looks ripe for goals with BTTS and over 2.5 a stand out selection. 

While Ajax are likely to maintain their winning form, I'm putting my money on a high-scoring outcome in Amsterdam.
