An intriguing tie awaits us on Wednesday evening when AEK Athens and Inter Club d'Escaldes meet in Larnaca for the first leg of the Europa League second qualifying round.

AEK Athens failed to defend their Greek top-flight title last season, finishing behind PAOK but the Yellow and Blacks were a joy to watch for much of the campaign. They had the best home record in the Super League and will be keen to replicate that form in 2024-25.

Inter Club d'Escaldes had a similar experience in Andorra's Primera Divisió. The visitors were heartbroken to lose the league title by just three points to UE Santa Coloma, but they once again secured a place in the Europa League qualifying rounds.  Having been knocked out at the second qualifying round in each of their last three Europa League appearances, the Andorran club will be underdogs going into Wednesday's game.

AEK Athens have failed to win in their last two outings, a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of AZ Alkmaar and a 1-1 draw with Omonoia. However, the hosts are a force to be reckoned with at the AEK Arena, where they have won each of their last three games without conceding a goal. 

Inter Club d'Escaldes haven't had much luck in Europe in recent years, especially in the second qualifying round of the Europa League but they always manage to find the back of the net. The visitors scored at least once in each of their last seven European matches and have been scoring goals for fun of late.
